This week sees the beginning of something brand new to the Bury St Edmunds Concert Band. On Wednesday the band sees the birth of The Bury St Edmunds Youth Concert Band.
The brain child of our DOM Rob, he has been working for a few years now to bring music to the youth of the town without the need for grades or age. The Youth band is open to all abilities of musicians from the ages of 8-18. Whether you are able to play only five notes or you are a grade 5 player the band offers something for everyone. Beginners will have the opporutnity to sit with those who can help show them those notes they don’t know and be part of a band which will perform for audiences locally.
Rob firmly believes that music is one of those disciplines which is slowly losing its appeal with children and wants to bring the fun back to learning to play an instrument whilst being part of a band, developing each child and helping grow their confidence on a weekly basis.
If you have a child or know of anyone who playes an instrument from the woodwind, brass or percussion families then they are welcome to join us on Wednesday 25th January at the Riverwalk school in Bury St Edmunds at 7:15pm.
We look forward to seeing you then.
