The Bury St Edmunds Youth Concert Band was started in January 2017 by Rob Head, and now has around 30 players. Rob had been working for a few years on how to bring music to the youth of the town, without the requirement for grades. Rob firmly believes that music is one of those disciplines which is slowly losing its appeal with children and wants to bring the fun back to learning to play an instrument whilst being part of a band, developing each child and helping grow their confidence on a weekly basis.
Bringing out the best in you
The Band is for young people, aged 8 to 18, who are learning woodwind, brass or percussion. It is a fun environment where the young musicians enjoy the opportunity to play with others. Rob is a passionate leader who brings out the best from each individual and it is a joy to see so many of the band members gain in confidence and make new friends in the band.
Something for everyone
It doesn’t matter if they can only play five notes or are a grade 5 player, the band offers something for everyone; beginners sit with more experienced players who can teach them the notes they don’t know. We even have some instruments available for loan.
Join us!
If you have a child or know of anyone who plays an instrument from the woodwind, brass or percussion families then they are welcome to join us on Wednesday evenings 7.15-8.15pm at Christ Church Moreton Hall in Bury St Edmunds.
