If you are comfortable playing at a grade 4 (ABRSM) level, you should be able to perform most of our extensive repertoire. We ask that you have at least grade 5, but we rate practical ability with your chosen instrument above purely academic qualifications.

We ask our members to regularly attend rehearsals, which are held every Monday evening (not Bank Holidays) at Christ Church, Moreton Hall in Bury St Edmunds. We also encourage members to practise their more difficult parts at home, so that they are fully prepared when rehearsing with the full band. Musicians are expected to make every effort to be available for all of our public performances.
All musicians are required to bring their own instruments and to keep them properly maintained to a high standard. Members’ annual subscriptions are currently £60 to cover the cost of hiring the rehearsal venue and some other incidental costs. If you are considering joining the band you may attend 2 or 3 rehearsals without commitment, to help you decide if you would like to do so.
